This is an ongoing exploration of making and conceptions of form via the construction of tape hand casts and corresponding gloves. I recently discovered that I didn't know how to make a glove, which I had initially assumed would be a relatively straight forward undertaking. There is an obvious connection between hands and making, and I started to collect tape casts of friends hands so that I could design a personalized a glove as a part of an attempt to reclaim the ability to make. I have also started collecting gloves from friends in order to learn more about other peoples' approaches to making and conceptions of form. more family

My sister, Sara made me an an octopus glove for my project (she is a costume designer extraordinaire). I miss her a lot, I just got the yellow slip in my PO box indicating that I have a package waiting, and I think (I hope!) it is her glove, which I can't wait to see in person.

I was more excited about having this glove than I expected. I made a hand cast infused with a post card she mailed me about a year ago, and making this hand cast made me miss her more than ever. I plan to use this cast to make a glove in response to her's.
